Introduction

The Civil Society Desk is a new program created within CIMC in 2012 based on government advice. It was created to coordinate and provide secretariat support services to the development of the State-Civil Society Partnership Policy. Previously it was known as the State-Civil Society Partnership Initiative Desk but was changed to CIMC Civil Society Desk due to the inclusion of other tasks.

Objective

Key objective (s) of the CIMC Civil Society Desk is to:

  1. Facilitate the development of the State-Civil Society Partnership initiative;
  2. Coordinate and facilitate formal dialogue and partnership between Government and Civil Society Organizations;
  3. It’s a bridging or contact point for Government and Civil Society Organisations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide secretariat support services on the State-Civil Society Partnership Policy initiative;
  • Coordinate and facilitate annual National Roundtable meetings between Civil Society Organisations and Government;
  • Convey Civil Society issues and recommendations coming from meetings and workshops to government;
  • Organising general Civil Society meetings on need basis;
  • Networking and partnership with key civil society partners;
  • Develop and provide research based Civil Society profile and data base.
