The Southern Regional Development Forum was held at Dixie's Bungalow in Central province from the 14-15th of May 2018. The objectives of the forum were:

  • Inform provinces and districts of the Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP III) 2018-2022;
  • Dialogue with provinces and districts on medium-term development potentials & priorities; and
  • Ensure alignment of sub-national development planning to MTDP III, 2018-2022.

The Southern Region has 5 provinces- Oro, Milne Bay, central, Gulf and Western. The regional forums are rotated between each province in the region so the 2017 forum was conducted in Alotau after the last Southern Regional forum was conducted in Oro province in 2015.
