Annual Regional Development Forums are cordinated by the CIMC, bringing together identified representatives from all sectors in the Southern Region. These include government, churches, private sector, youth, women, CSO's and members of civil society. Speakers are also invited from the various sectors including government, the private sector, members of civil society and from community based organisations representing certain interests. The 2015 New Guinea Islands Regional Development forum was held in Kavieng, New Ireland Province. It was well attended by delegates from the other Islands Region provinces especially CSO, Women, Youth and NGO representatives including those from government as well.
The Forum was opened by the Acting Provincial Administrator Mr Andrew Kaiap. He describd the CIMC mechnism as unique and acknowledged its vital role as a dialogue platform to be used by people from all sectors to deliberate on issues of national interest at their respective localities.
